Job Description

NETWORK SYSTEMS MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of all network services as well as regulating their use through proper network security. This includes but is not limited to file, print, email, voice, storage, virtualization, database, routers, switches, firewalls, SPAM and antivirus solutions, remote access, backup, email archiving, wireless infrastructure, internet filtering, and monitoring systems. This includes management of the district datacenter and its entire server infrastructure. The manager also must be prepared to meet deadlines, report to the director on project status, and make recommendations for network and standalone improvements/repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Degree from accredited technical school or equivalent experience in a technology field desired
 MCSE, MCTIP, CCNA or higher level certification
 Demonstrated strong hands-on experience with servers running Windows Server 2012/2016/2022 and clients running Windows 10/11
 5-8 years of experience installing hardware & software
 5-8 years of experience maintaining and managing network infrastructure, datacenter infrastructure, and wireless infrastructure
 Such alternative qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology

SALARY: $70,000 - $80,000


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The Network Systems Manager is a twelve-month employee who works the custodial calendar as adopted by the Board of Education. Terms and conditions of employment and benefits are in accordance with the negotiated agreement.

EVALUATION: Job performance is evaluated annually by the Director of Technology.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Design, manage, and monitor all physical and virtual hardware in the district datacenter.

2. Make recommendations for server hardware upgrades and efficiency improvement of datacenter infrastructure.

3. Manage disaster recovery and backup plan for the district.

4. Manage all Active Directory infrastructure including group policy.

5. Assists with the training and supervision of all new district staff members and interns.

6. Design/deploy redundant DHCP servers.

7. Manage multiple Active Directory integrated DNS servers.

8. Lead research on all district network related upgrades. This includes generating quotes from the necessary vendors and making a complete recommendation of purchase.

9. Troubleshoot district network and server connectivity issues.

10. Create short and long range network infrastructure planning for the district.

11. Preparation, implementation, and maintenance of district network software applications.

12. Design, manage and enforce network security policies.

13. Responds to emergency situations as needed for the purpose of resolving immediate concerns.

14. Provide high level technical support to district staff.

15. Effectively use new and existing equipment and software.

16. Repurpose old hardware for district use or test environment.

17. Preview and evaluate new hardware and software.

18. Inform teachers, administrators, and support staff of appropriate emerging technologies.

19. Remain current on industry trends in information technology and investigate new technologies.

20. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology and/or Superintendent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 50 lbs.
